SPACE - THE LINDA PACE FOUNDATION PRESENTS U.S. PREMIERE OF PARALLAX BY SHAHZIA SIKANDER




(SAN ANTONIO, TX – August 18, 2014) – The Board of Trustees of the Linda Pace Foundation announces a new acquisition and the United States premiere of Parallax, a three-channel HD animation by international artist Shahzia Sikander. The public opening of Parallax will take place Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 6PM–9PM in SPACE, located in the northeast corner of CHRISpark in San Antonio, and will include a lecture by the artist. Opening weekend events will be held Saturday, October 4th, 2014 with an Artist Talk at 6:30pm.

SPACE - The Linda Pace Foundation opens the collection to the public on a permanent basis




(SAN ANTONIO, TX – March 16, 2014) – Maura Reilly, Executive Director, and the Board of Trustees of the Linda Pace Foundation, announce the opening of SPACE, a new exhibition space designed by San Antonio architect, Jim Poteet, FAIA. While the Foundation has previously presented exhibitions in Linda Pace’s private home on Camp Street, SPACE will be free and open to the public Wednesday through Saturday from 12PM–5PM, making the collection of late philanthropist and artist Linda Pace available for public view on an ongoing basis. Opening weekend festivities will be held Friday, April 18–19, 2014.

In conjunction with the animated video, a recent large‐scale drawing by Sikander will also be exhibited. The exhibition will be inaugurated with a special reception honoring the artist and featuring live performances by Sikander’s collaborator and composer of The Last Post score, Du Yun. The reception with the artist will take place on Friday September 14, 2012 from 6:00PM - 8:00 PM, with live musical performances by Du Yun at 6:30PM and 7:30PM.

The Trustees and staff of the Linda Pace Foundation warmly congratulate Teresita Fernández on her appointment by President Barack Obama to the United States Commission of Fine Arts, the federal panel that advises the President, Congress, and governmental agencies on national matters of aesthetics and design. One of seven commissioners appointed by the President, she will take part in approving the site and design of national memorials and museums, advising the U.S. Mint on the design of coins and medals, and administering the National Capital Arts and Cultural Affairs program.

Fernández is a 2005 MacArthur Foundation fellow, a recipient of the Louis Comfort Tiffany Award, and a 1998 Artpace International Artist-in-Residence. She is widely recognized for her installation works and public sculptures.

Within the Linda Pace Foundation collection, Fernández is represented by five remarkable works. Additionally, she conceived visual experiences installed throughout CHRISpark, the one-acre public park at 111 Camp Street in San Antonio operated by the Linda Pace Foundation.

FOUNDATION LOANS MESSAGER'S PROTECTION TO THE MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART IN MONTERREY MEXICO.

The Foundation recently loaned Annette Messager's Protection, from its collection to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Monterrey, Mexico. Messager was one of the three artists who inaugurated the International Artist-in-Residence program at Artpace, which was founded by Linda Pace in 1995. She made the piece on loan to MARCO in 1998.
